Ship Happens: Part Two (Variation on Mis-print Monday…)

A couple months ago I posted a warning about ship timing.  Before the holidays carriers are covered up with Christmas gift deliveries.  Well… the saga continues as the winter weather takes it’s toll on cities in the North.  A  week ago I fell victim to a horrible shipping error.  We were shipping 3 pallets with $25,000 worth of merchandise to an event.  The shipment was supposed to be delivered on Thursday before the event which started Friday night, but we were notified the delivery was delayed ’til Friday.  Our freight company promised us that the pallets would be the first delivery on Friday.  Well… on Friday morning I got a phone call saying that all of the freight trucks for our particular shipping company were being held at the distribution center because of a snowstorm moving into Boston.

BOSTON! I know someone in Boston!  I quickly sent a message to The Ink Kitchen’s own Rick Roth.  Together we were able to find a solution to my problem.  He has a buddy (Peter of QRST’s)  that is in good with a courier company, and they agreed to pick up our pallets from the distribution center and deliver them to the convention.
This my friends is why we need to grow together as a community.  You never know when you are going to need someone 20 states over to save your butt.
