Misprint Monday: MHM Safety

Today we have a guest post, including a sobering video, from our buddy Paul Riva (Apparel Graphics in Oakdale, CA) regarding shop safety:

It pays to play safe. Today I was informed of an incident in the shop. Nobody died, limbs are intact and there were no trips to the ER… this time.  As the video shows, the safety bar on our new MHM just prevented Mark from getting guts on our clean floor.

When we started this business I was really young and needless to say safety wasn’t a priority. I find myself taking care of stuff now that should have been done before we opened our doors. The only thing that matters now is that these things are either done and in place or there is a great urgency to complete them. Having a solid safety program is no joke. This can be a daunting task but if you don’t have one you’re putting yourself and others at risk. In addition, having good equipment with safety features that work is essential.

  1. My Pops got hit with the pallet and flew into the safety bar on our MHM. My heart about stopped. He was okay, just a nice bruise! I am way over cautious around automatic equipment!
