I.K. Threads

When The Know-It-Alls debuted at ISS Long Beach last month we received a lot of compliments and questions on our custom threads.  Here’s what we did…

Designed by Rick and Tom then printed/stitched at Motion Textile, we created four unique pieces:

The “Know-It-All Hoody” (N280 NANO FULL-ZIP HOOD)

IMG_5917
Traditional plastisol, printed over zipper, faux stitching, matte thread embroidery on sleeve
IMG_5953
Achieving a clean print with even ink deposit over the zipper requires the use of foam printing platens

Though an 80/20 blend, this product has a 100% cotton face. Technically you could print a cotton white but I still recommend a low-bleed ink, especially on red. Better safe than sorry

The “I.K. Cardigan” (District Made DM315)

IMG_5914
Burmilana specialty thread by Madeira used for a vintage look and feel, compliments the garment nicely
IMG_1769
Burmilana is a fine spun 50% wool, 50% acrylic embroidery thread. Working with this product can be tricky, requiring special digitizing and slower machine speeds, but the effect is worth the trouble

The District Made collection is available exclusively from Sanmar. Good stuff.

The “KnowTee” (4980 Nano-T)

IMG_5931
Soft plastisol inks (Rutland C3 w/ Chino Base) used for a soft hand, printed over bottom seam, four locations
IMG_5935
Soft plastisol inks completely penetrate the fabric. The hand is comparable to that of water-base inks

IMG_5940
The Hanes Nano tee is made from 30/1’s, 100% ring spun cotton fabric. Easy printing

The “Ink Kitchen Cap” (District DT612)

IMG_5958
Madeira Frosted Matt Thread has a nice matte finish, complimenting the distressed cap style

The District line is available exclusively through Sanmar
